Classes

The Intensive Course is only for advanced level students who want a hard-working, academically focussed visit to the school.

Each weekday there are three formal classes in the morning followed by an individual or small group tutorial in the afternoon. Students work on their writing and analysis skills, strengthen their vocabulary and structure, and develop their speaking skills through debates and discussion. The tutorial focuses on specific needs, such as exam techniques, developing an argument, or analysing literature.

Exam Preparation

ECHO students can study for end of school exams such as the Abitur and Baccalaureate, or for international English exams such as IELTS, TOEFL, and the Cambridge First Certificate, Advanced and Proficiency tests .

Students work on exam techniques, take practice tests, and get personalised feedback from their teachers.

Boarding School Preparation

The Intensive Course can be tailored to students entering an English or international boarding school. Students work on their skills such as essay writing, note-taking and argumentation, so they are fully prepared to successfully meet the academic demands of their schools.

Social Activities

Students on the Intensive Course can join in the evening activity programmes and weekend excursions. There is also a weekly ‘project’ to encourage everyone to work with students from different classes, such as making a film, or creating a school newspaper.
