SENIOR COUSE for ages 15 - 20 years old*

Our Senior Course offers a great mix of social and academic programmes. Students begin to use their English in real situations, speaking the language in and around the school. They work hard and play hard with the result that we normally see real improvement in all our students.

Unlike most English language schools, at ECHO our students are obliged to speak English all day, inside and outside classes. In this way, they not only practice their English a lot, but also make many friends from other countries.

Our Prices are all inclusive. All programmes are included as are tuition and course materials. Please note however that there are no refunds on optional programmes that are not taken.

CLASSES
Classes are organised so that each student is with others who have a similar standard of English. There are usually 5 or 6 students in each group, a maximum of 8. All our teachers are qualified professionals, chosen for their special abilities with teenaged learners, and each class is conducted according to an engaging, communicative method.

All Senior Students have three hours of morning classes. These generally encompass grammar, vocabulary building and functional language. Students have the chance to do a lot of speaking in class, building their confidence to use the language in the afternoons and evenings.

Two afternoons are also spent in class, with extended homework projects based on the classes. This is the time our students can work with longer reading texts or improve their writing.

SOCIAL PROGRAMMES
Senior Students have sport and social programmes on three afternoons of the week. These are loosely planned with one sports afternoon, one cultural afternoon and one project afternoon. The afternoons may include football and cooking or trips into Brighton and Hove for the museums and shops. Evening programmes include billiard-hall visits, student theatre productions and the cinema.

There is a weekly 'project' to encourage everyone to work with students from different classes, usually either designing a poster- presentation or making a film.

On Saturday there is an excursion, alternating between London and another famous city, for example Canterbury or Portsmouth.

LIVING AT ECHO
Life at ECHO is like being part of one big family and we encourage students to enjoy all our facilities here at the school, including two large TV rooms with over 500 films, Playstation2, modern internet computer room, extensive book library and sports equipment. Free tea, coffee and snacks are available outside lessons, and there is a free laundry service for those staying over two weeks.

All ECHO students eat together, either in the house or in the heated patio-garden. They have three excellent meals per day. During the meals they continue to speak English with students and staff from the whole school.

Senior Students have some independence but ECHO staff always know where they are. Normally two students share a room, and all rooms are within five minutes of the school's main building. When enroling, a parent guardian must consent to some activities for 17 year olds and under.
