Residential style English Language Courses for Young People

A Typical Day | Younger Learners' Activities

ECHO offers English language courses for kids during the summer and at Easter and October. Our specially designed English courses for teenagers offer a wide range of programmes and, best of all, English All Day.

ECHO offers courses for young people aged from 12 to 21. The days are spent on a residential course from breakfast to bedtime. On our language courses for kids, we offer a full day of academic, social and sporting programmes. Then all our students sleep in houses very near to the school building.

On an ECHO English course for young people, students eat with each other and with the school staff. We are a small school offering select English courses, maximum number in the school is 36 children; in the classrooms, the maximum is 8. Everyone makes friends quickly and easily and speaks English all day.

All the Teachers on our English language courses for children are selcted because of their ability to teach well and to interact with teenagers. Our senior staff are widely experienced and qualified professionals.

We have many years of experience with teenagers' English language courses. There are no stuffy classrooms here. Everyone enjoys the comfortable ECHO school house, where the rooms for English classes feel like being in someone's home.

The prices of all our English courses for children include excellent meals, accommodation, study materials and a Saturday excursion to a major tourist city in the South of England. For Prices, click here

Parents know their children on an ECHO English course are safe. We are based in a nice residential area a short bus ride away from exciting Brighton. We also make sure that young people under 18 are well supervised and that in their free time we always know where they are.

Kids on an ECHO English language course enjoy all-day access to great facilities - over 500 dvds/videos, lots of books, drinks and snacks and a free laundry service for those staying over 2 weeks. For a small weekly charge personal use can be made of the computer room and internet connection.

Our Three English Courses for Young People

JUNIOR COURSES AGES 12 - 14
On the courses for our youngest learners, every weekday there are three hours of morning lessons. Then, every afternoon and evening, there are organised sport and cultural activities. See some elements of our varied programme of activities at the bottom of the page.
INTERMEDIATE COURSES AGES 15-16
On our courses for teenagers of 15 and 16 years old there are three hours of morning lessons every day. Then Tuesday and Thursday have academic afternoons involving classes and homework which is marked by course tutors. Monday afternoon is for sport, and Friday afternoons are spent either film-making or in group project presentations. On Wednesday afternoons there is a cultural outing to introduce 'English Way of Life'. There is an evening excursion once a week to, for example, the billard hall.
GENERAL COURSE AGES 17+
For the older members of our Englsih courses for young people , their three hours of lessons are followed by an academic programme. This involves meeting with the course director for about 10-15 minutes, and being given about two hours of study, which is then assessed and discussed at the next meeting. We encourage students to socialise in the evenings and offer a range of opportunities for outings to local places.

  • It is important to recognise that ECHO is a school and not a summer camp. Of course we make sure our students have lots of fun while they are here, but it is our job to make sure everyone's English imporoves as much as possible.
